Sorority Recruitment Information
Sorority recruitment takes place during the first two weeks of the spring semester. Giving students the oportunity to adjust to college and decide whether Greek Life is the right choice for them. For more details about recruitment, please contact the Greek Life staff.
Sorority recruitment is referred to as Formal Recruitment. Formal Recruitment is based on a philosophy of equity that underlies the sorority selection process. Each potential new member (PNM) has the opportunity to attend a recruitment party for each chapter. Formal Recruitment happens over the first two weekends of the Spring semester and is held in the Thwing Student Center. Everyone who registers will be given a Recruitment Counselor (Rho Chi) who will guide her through the recruitment process. Rho Chis are experienced Greeks who will be there to help PNMs get ready for recruitment and to assist them through the selection process.
At the end of Formal Recruitment, each potential new member will fill out a preference card. Sorority and PNM choices are matched with "bids" or invitations for membership extended the following day. Signing the preference card is the student's agreement to pledge any sorority listed on the card. Every attempt is made to match a PNM to her first choice, to keep everyone's options open.
