Career Assessment Tools

What Type are You?The process of self-reflection will help start you on your way toward identifying a career path that fits your interests and personality. What are your strengths? What do you value? What are your interests? What skills and abilities do you possess or wish to develop? The better you know yourself, the better choices you will make with regard to your major and career.

Strong Interest Inventory® Assessment

This assessment is based on John Holland's theory that career choice is an expression of personality. Your interests suggest a lot about who you are, as well as career fields, activities and majors you might enjoy. The assessment compares your interests with working adults who report being satisfied in their careers. The assumption is that if you share similar interests with people who are happy with their jobs, you would likely be happy in a similar field. Information from this assessment report includes:

  • Careers that reflect your interests
  • Possible education and training programs
  • Satisfying work environments
  • Enjoyable activities for your free time
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) Assessment

This assessment is based on Carl Jung's theory of psychological type and offers a foundation for understanding individual differences in the way that people think, communicate, and interact. Information from this assessment report includes:

  • A description of your personality type, including strengths and areas for growth
  • Examples of job satisfiers that match your personality type
  • Additional handouts with information on your preferred learning style, as well as resources for further exploration
