Murray Hill Complex

Murray Hill Complex
  • Alumni House
  • Howe House

The Murray Hill community is home to students in both the Second Year Experience and the Upperclass and Graduating Senior Experiences, and is a leafy, grounded space that encourages students to become active global citizens, ethical leaders, and life-long scholars through their respective Experiences. Traditional events have included Second Year Experience programs such as Kuumba Fest and the Alumni Mystery Bus Tour, but the "Bottom of the Hill" community also draws together students from both Experiences to gather for events such as Diversity Week, Culture Night, and cookouts and other casual social events.

Murray Hill is affectionately referred to as "The Bottom of the Hill" because it is nestled at the foot of a bluff on Murray Hill Road, on the edge of the historic Cleveland neighborhood of Little Italy. You will hear both students and staff use this phrase to describe the location. The physical set-up of the area is suites and apartments, but the prime location allows Murray Hill residents to extend the community space to Fribley Commons, the Rough Rider Room just up the Elephant Stairs, the restaurants and art galleries of Little Italy, and short walk over Adelbert Bridge to the Case Quad including classrooms, the campus movie theater, and athletic and exercises venues. Heck, the rapid transit station is just across the street, and it can take you to the airport, so Murray Hill can extend to just about anywhere.
