Web Content Assistant

Basic Function

The Web Content Assistant position provides an opportunity to develop relevant skills in web content design, creation and editing while supporting the web and marketing goals of departments in the Division of Student Affairs. Projects will be determined on an ongoing basis by the IT Operations Group staff based on experience and current needs. The Web Content Assistant will be expected to develop new skills during employment.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Create and edit content in HTML for departmental and program web sites following established style guidelines using web authoring software, such as Adobe Dreamweaver.
  2. Prepare photos for use on the division web site by cropping, resizing or modifying with Adobe Photoshop.
  3. Create PDF documents and forms using Adobe Acrobat and other tools.
  4. Create user documentation for new and existing projects.
  5. Work on additional writing tasks and other clerical duties that support department needs and divisional processes.
  6. Create, edit and upload videos to the web using Adobe Premiere.
  7. Take photos at student events, as needed.
  8. Assist with additional responsibilities as assigned by IT staff.
Reporting Responsibilities

The Web Content Assistant reports directly to the Web Content Developer and the Training and Support Manager in the IT Operations Group.


The Web Content Developer will provide appropriate training for new projects and responsibilities on a regular basis.


Strong writing and editing skills are required. This position requires experience with style guides, business writing and online editing. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and web content management is preferred. Applicants must have an understanding of basic HTML, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere or comparable applications.


Pay starts out between $10 and $12 an hour (10 - 20 hours a week, work study preferred). We offer performance-based raises yearly. We also offer full-time student positions during the summer with free housing arrangements.
