May Squire Garden

In 2012, the growing are at Squire Valleevue Farm was home to the pie pumpkin patch and 12 rows of two different varieties of corn. On October 6 the Farm hosted the Farm Harvest Festival, an event for Case students, staff, faculty, and guests, offering free catered food by Bon Appétit using produce from the Farm, entertainment by Case student groups, and pumpkin picking from our pumpkin patch, among other things. May Squire GardensThese pumpkins were also harvested and sold at the Farmers Markets throughout the fall.

From the end of August to the end of September we harvested 1354 ears of corn and sold them at the Farmers Market, in our CSA, and to Bon Appétit. This year, we plan to have corn again but relocated to the Lower Farm. This growing area on the Upper Farm will be repurposed to grow squash (both summer and winter) and potentially some of the cold-weather greens like collards and kale.
