Guest Housing Policies


In order to reside in Case Western Reserve University guest housing, guests must be affiliated with the University, another educational institution, or with other types of educational programs such as internships, workshops, conferences, or camps. University affiliation includes Case Western Reserve graduate students, alumni, faculty, staff; students of CIA, CIM and OCPM; or affiliates of University Hospitals, The Cleveland Clinic, and other UCI institutions. Case undergraduate students interested in short-term housing may also be eligible for guest housing. The guest housing program runs from May 21 - August 5, 2017.

Check-in and Check-out

Guests residing in the North Residential Village must check in and check out at the North Residential Village Area Office in Wade Commons. Wade Commons is located on East 115th Street, one and a half blocks north of Euclid Avenue. Guests residing in the South Residential Village must check in and check out at the South Residential Village Area Office in Fribley Commons. Fribley Commons is located at 2315 Murray Hill Road, one block from Cedar Avenue. Area Office hours, during the summer program, are Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Upon check-in:

  • Guests will receive a key/key card to their room and a university ID card to access exterior doors to their facility.
  • Guests must pay in full for their room charges. Payment may be made with cash, credit card, travelers checks, personal checks, or money orders, unless billed to a Case account.
  • Guests must present a valid form of picture identification.

Upon check-out:

  • Any outstanding charges must be paid at check-out time.
  • If keys or ID cards are not returned, replacement charges will be assessed ($110/key and $25/ID).

NOTE: If you are unable to check in or check out during regular office hours, contact us Monday - Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 216.368.1026, stop by the North Residential Village Area Office in Wade Commons, or email us at to make alternate arrangements.

Residential Policies
  1. All participants are required to carry Case Western Reserve identification and should be prepared to show identification if requested by a security officer or other university personnel. The university will be responsible for distribution of ID cards. Case Protective Services and the University Circle Police Department provide 24-hour coverage on campus.
  2. Guests must adhere to all university conduct and facilities policies.
  3. Entrance doors to residential facilities must remain locked at all times.
  4. Guests must adhere to CWRU, federal, and state regulations regarding drugs and alcohol. It is illegal in Ohio for alcoholic beverages to be made available to or consumed by anyone under twenty-one (21) years of age.
  5. CWRU is a smoke-free environment. Smoking in the residence halls is prohibited.
  6. All guests must evacuate the building during a fire alarm.
  7. Quiet/Courtesy Hours: Guests are expected to refrain from loud and excessive noise as well as obnoxious and rowdy behavior. Courtesy and respect should be shown to all guests and residents at all times.
  8. CWRU reserves the right to terminate this agreement for any violation by university guests and/or their guests.
  9. Fees will be assessed for lost room keys ($110), lost ID cards ($25), and lost Village at 115 access cards ($10).
  10. Rooms have active cable hook-ups but no television is provided.
  11. The university will accept no responsibility for theft, destruction, loss of money, loss of valuables, or other personal property.
