Talent Moving On

When an employee leaves the university, human resources and the division will need certain documentation to ensure that the transition happens as smoothly as possible. Please make sure that the HRA has the following doucments to send to HR:

  1. Letter of Resignation
  2. CWRU Personal Action Form
  3. Termination Checklist

When an employee leaves, their last paycheck will be mailed out. This ensures that the proper fees are paid in case the employee does not return keys or equipment. Student Affairs IT will wipe their computer and remove access to our systems and files.

For the supervisor of the employee who is leaving, it is important to remember the following:

  • Send out an email letting the division know that this person is leaving. Let people know who will be taking on their responsibilities until a replacement can be found.
  • Request return of any credit cards to be destroyed.
  • Request the return of all equipment (computers, cellphones, iPad, furniture keys, etc.).
  • Ensure that they turn in all keys, their ID card and parking pass to Access Services on their final day. They should also bring their Termination Checklist for Access Services signature.
  • Remove their name from the roster, the org chart, their mailbox and office door.
  • Clean their office in a timely manner to ensure that any personal items can be returned, or any missing university property recovered immediately.
