Google Apps Sync

Before you start

Google Apps Sync enables you to access your Google Apps account (including Mail and Calendar) through Microsoft Outlook. However, due to some known stability issues, it is approved for users on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the IT Operations Group to have the tool installed on your computer.

Setting Up A Google Apps Sync Account
  1. Before you start, make sure that Microsoft Outlook is not running.
  2. Open the Start menu on the bottom left of your screen and click on All Programs. Navigate to the Google Apps Sync Folder and open it. Click Set Up a Google Apps Sync User.
  3. Enter your Case email address (e.g. into the box, and click Continue.

  1. If your browser is not currently logged in to Single Sign-On, it will ask you to do so. Otherwise, skip this step.
  2. Google Apps Sync will bring up a web page asking for permission to view and manage your email account. Click Accept.

  1. Switch back to Google Apps Sync by clicking on the Google Apps Sync logo on the task bar at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Click Continue.

  1. Click Create profile.

  1. You may now start up Microsoft Outlook. It may ask you to choose a profile. Make sure to choose your Google Apps account profile from the drop-down menu. It should say "Google Apps" after your email address. Click "OK."

  1. The following screen will pop up, showing the synchronization progress of your Google account email. It may take a while for all of your content to load into Outlook depending on the amount of saved content you have; don't be alarmed if something is missing when you first start up Outlook. Feel free to click the Close button on this screen, as it will continue syncing in the background. You may also close Outlook, and it will continue syncing where it left off when you open it again.
