Social Media

Social media can be an effective addition to your existing web presence, but there is an expectation of interaction from participants. Departments that wish to use social media need to dedicate the appropriate resources to update and monitor each account. This section outlines the hosted resources available for social media. Approved Resources

The following resources are approved for social media, in order of preference. Contact us to discuss the best option for your project.

  1. OrgSync
    • OrgSync should serve as the main hub for storage of news, events, documents and related materials
    • OrgSync links can be shared to other services using the built-in promotional tools
  2. Facebook
    • a Facebook presence is limited to Facebook pages
    • a Facebook profile cannot be used to represent a department or program
    • Facebook requires a staff member that is committed to monitoring the page at least daily
    • Facebook is not a replacement for posting information or events in OrgSync or on your web page
    • although more informal, information posted should follow the same writing and style guidelines as other content
    • the Facebook "like box" highlighting your page can be added to your departmental web page
    • information posted on Facebook should also be available on a website or in OrgSync
    • events RSVPs, attendance and feedback should be hosted in OrgSync
    • you cannot compel students to join Facebook or like your page in order to participate in any program, activity or event
  3. Twitter

  • YouTube: contact the marketing manager to include content on the the divisions's YouTube channel
