Copying Text from Microsoft Word

In some cases, you may find it easier to paste text directly from a Microsoft Word document into the online editor. However, if you copy and paste text directly from Microsoft Word, the Online Editor Tool will not recognize the formatting or match the font that we use on our website. As a result, you will need to reformat your text so it displays correctly.

The Paste from Word button in the editor toolbar.

To strip out Microsoft Word formatting, follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to the Online Editing Tool. When the Edit: Main Content tool appears, create a new page or find an existing page that you want to manipulate with Word text.
  2. Open the Word document that contains the text you want to include on your website. Highlight the selected text, then copy it.
  3. Click the Paste from Word button in the editor toolbar and paste the text into the window that appears. Click Paste.
  4. Re-work your page by adding paragraph tags, bolded headlines, hyperlinks, etc.
