Creating a PDF from any Program

In order to create a PDF, you must have Adobe Acrobat installed. Acrobat is available to current Case students, staff, and faculty from the Software Center. For help installing Acrobat, please contact the Help Desk. Once Acrobat is installed, you can 'print' to a PDF file from any program, just as you would print to a normal printer.

  1. Once your poster has been designed, go to the print menu. (File -> Print in most software.)

    File -> Print
  2. From the list of available printers, select "Adobe PDF."

    Select Adobe PDF
  3. Click the "Properties" button, normally next to the list of printers.
  4. From the "Default Settings" drop-down, select "Press Quality."

    Press Quality
  5. Click OK to exit the properties screen.
  6. Your program's print screen should appear. Finish printing as you normally would. (Click OK in most programs.)
  7. A screen should pop up asking you where you want to save the PDF. Select a location and press OK.

    Save PDF as
  8. You should now have a PDF of your poster, ready to be uploaded to the online order form.

PDF files must be submitted as either letter size (8.5" x 11") or in the final size of the poster (ex. 18" x 24"). Unless otherwise specified, each page of a multi-page PDF will be printed as a poster.
