National Honor Societies

Throughout their time at CWRU, students earn an impressive variety of nationally and internationally recognized honors and awards. This is just a selection of the societies you can aspire to join!

Phi Beta Kappa

Phi Beta Kappa, a national honor society, recognizes outstanding scholarship in the arts and sciences. The Alpha Chapter of Ohio, one of the first 10 created nationally, was established here in 1847.

Sigma Theta Tau International

Sigma Theta Tau International is a nursing honor society that supports the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide. Alpha Mu is the university's chapter at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing.

Order of Omega

Order of Omega is a leadership honor society selected from the top three percent of Greek organization members. The Eta Sigma chapter recognizes juniors and seniors who have exemplified high standards in the areas of scholarship, leadership, and involvement within their respective organization, on campus, and in their local and Greek communities.

Tau Beta Pi

Tau Beta Pi is a national honor society that recognizes full-time engineering students for outstanding scholarship, leadership and service. The Alpha Chapter of Ohio was established in 1900.

Mortar Board

Mortar Board is a national honor society that recognizes full-time upper-class students for outstanding scholarship, leadership and service. Case Western Reserve is home to the Lux chapter.

Gamma Sigma Alpha

Gamma Sigma Alpha, a national Greek academic honor society, recognizes those members of fraternities and sororities that have perennially excelled academically throughout their undergraduate career. CWRU juniors and seniors who have achieved a 3.6 GPA can apply to the Zeta chapter.

National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH)

The Donald J. Kamalsky chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary recognizes the top 1% of CWRU leaders living in the residence halls, and who value recognition and service.

Who's Who Among Students

Who’s Who Among Students is one of the most respected honor programs recognized by college faculty and administrators. CWRU students with junior or senior standing are awarded based on academic merit, grade point average, service to the community and leadership experience.
